Cutting-Edge Infrared Technology and Proven Research Deeply Roots FitMe’s Science-based Metrics.

Infra-Red Laser Dot Projection

FitMe uses trusted industry-standard technology to build ultra-precise 3D depth depth maps. This kind of technology is very commonly found on expensive commercial 3D body scanners that costs over $10,000 as well as medical imaging equipment.

Laser Projection

FitMe’s Infra-Red Laser Dot Projector emits light in the infrared spectrum, which is not visible to your eye. The laser light is passed through a diffractive optical element (DOE) that splits the beam into multiple dots, resulting in a grid of dots being projected onto your body and home environment, with each dot representing a specific point in space.

Camera Sensing

Our camera sensors are specially equipped to detect infrared light. These camera sensors captures the projected dot pattern made by the IR Dot Projector.

Advanced Computation

Our algorithms analyze the distortion of the dot pattern caused by the surface contours of your body and environment to calculate the distance to each dot. Using triangulation, where the known distance between the projector and the camera, allows FitMe to determine depth based on the angles at which the dots are detected.

Proven Research

Studies show that 3DO (3-dimensional Optical Imaging) body scanners are just as effective and in some cases better than other body composition techniques like DEXA or ADP.
International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health
“3D measurements correlated strongly with measurements made by conventional anthropometry, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and air displacement plethysmography (ADP), among others. In most studies (61.1%), 3D scanners were more accurate than these other techniques; in fact, these scanners presented excellent accuracy or reliability.”

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
“Compared with DXA, 3DO was highly sensitive in detecting body shape changes over time. The 3DO method was sensitive enough to detect even small changes in body composition during intervention studies.”

“The anthropometric and body composition estimates provided by the 3DO scanner are precise and accurate to criterion methods if offsets are considered. This method offers a rapid, broadly available, and automated method of body composition assessment regardless of body size.”
